Paper Stories Kit & Sketch

A big hello to you all and a special Hello to my new followers!

I have just realised that the giveaway I promised I still haven't posted on here. Was soooo busy before we left to go on holidays I forgot. So I will attempt to photograph it and post it up very very soon.

On a bit of older news, at the beginning of December the lovely Georgia from Paper Stories chose my layout as the winner of her sketch comp so with that I got a lovely prize of 7Gypsies goodies and at the same time I thought I would give one of her kits a go. I purchased the 'Love Song' kit featuring Basic Grey Serenade & Lucille and also some Heidi Swapp papers and tags.

Now I have never worked with a kit before so felt a little stumbled at first because when I normally scrap I have all the things out I want to use and scrapping away I go.

So I got out the kit and just dived into creating a layout. I used the current Paper Stories sketch as a starting point. Remember that when you use a sketch you can build from it. Adding extra layers, embellishments and you can mix things up. A sketch to me is just that, a 'sketch'.

Ok, here is my layout - Age One

It's of my daughter at obviously, one years old and I wanted to document a bit about her. She is full of life and personality! There is no dullness to this girl.

The only things I have added to this kit are really just mixed media stuff. Most of the main items and embellishments are from the kit! I added cotton & sequins, masking tape, gesso, dress pattern paper, tag and used some Tim Holtz distress stains and inks with a Crafters Workshop template to make the page me with some outlining with a Sharpie marker.

A few tips.
The background is pretty much made up of one sheet of patterned paper, Basic Grey Serenade Chemise.

I cut the border out then I collaged it back together with masking tape and Prima Washi Tape (which is included in the kit) and inked the edges for definition with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Frayed Burlap. I also tore paper and inked edges and put a little bit of dress pattern between the layers just for a bit extra.

Hope you have a lovely day!

Bye for now.

My BIG news!!! << read here

This is the news I have been dying to share for the past 3 months............

I am a Scrapbooking Memories MASTER for 2012-2013!!!!!

Yes, I made it!! wooohooo.....

It's all been a bit surreal but now I'm in reality.

The funny thing is I was catching up on Facebook and had just read a post from Kim Jeffress saying congrats to the girls who get the calls today, and then my phone rung... Sydney number.... NO WAY????? It was Cassie congratulating me on becoming a Master!!!! so I felt like I was floating on cloud 9!!! wow wow wow! I was not expecting it as this is my first time I have ever entered.

I loved the criteria to enter this year.... I gave myself two weeks and began creating. I really loved my entry. My heart and soul went into it.  So Thank You to Cassie & Vanessa and the team at Scrapbooking Memories for seeing something in my entry.

I feel really bad keeping secrets, and to one of my close friends.... I WISH I COULD HAVE TOLD YOU!!! but now you have to come over and look at all my prizes and OOO and ARR over them like I did. So all that scrapping you seen me do at the end of July which isn't in the scrap shop, well that was my entry!

Lastly, I would like to congratulate the other amazing 9 girls who I will be working alongside this year! It's going to be a whirlwind!!!!

We made it!!!!!!!!

Just awesome Em, you are a star!!! thank you!

My new blog title '7PM' comes from the time of day that I think all parents can relate to.... I really look forward to some peace to sit down and chill for a bit..... well, until the next day anyway.

And another post..... KIU -November

Ok - so no posts from me in months and here I am 3 in one week!

I had a bit of spare time last night so decided to have a go at the KIU November challenge which is minimalist/white space.

Now I am not that good at white space and minimalist layouts so I seem to have squeezed everything in one spot, well sort of anyways.

I made a gorgeous background by using a mix of Heidi Swapp (Primrose), Shimmerz (Cotton Candy), Glimmermist (Cadillac Pink) & Mr Hueys (White) sprays. I first 'pooled' all the colours in the middle and let run so it watermarked into my background then I masked with my fave mask at the mo - the chevron one by The Crafters Workshop - Balzer Designs. Once the mists were dry I used my finger to wipe gesso over the top of some sections then outlined with lead pencil followed by a black pen.

The ultra glossy dots of colour are the Shimmerz pots in Jilted Jade. This colour is just stunning. I have also swiped the masking tape with it and put a lil bit on the resins.

Ok.... so its a bit of a mix up of things so hope you like it.

\

Thanks for having a peek!
And soz for the not very good photo of this layout - we have stormy rainy weather here..... (perfect for scrapping but not the best light for pics!)

Scrapfriends - Sketch #7

Hi!

I am getting back into the swing of blogger and some challenges.

I found the Scrapfriends sketch #7 and loved it! I actually done #6 too but never photographed it to upload. There sketches are awes, lots of room for added mixed media too and layers.

I rotated the sketch so it was horizontal and added a few more embellishments. But that's the fun of sketches you can interpret how you like!

I am in love with these papers too. They are Teresa Collins Vintage Finds and I have teamed them up with some gorgeous Prima flowers. Lots of texture here.... hessian, wood wool, layers of papers, metal florish, tissue paper, gesso.

I pretty much sprayed everything with gold Color Shine & Shimmerz Heavy Metal and then on top of some of the embellishments I added Shimmerz in the Angel Wings colour. The Shimmerz is magic! I love the pot as you can use your finger to apply it or paintbrush if you wish but the level of shimmer is gorgeous!

A little tip, if you are having probs sticking your alphas down put a bit of Gel Medium and then just stick on top. They wont be moving anytime soon!

So here is my layout.... took me long enough to show you!

Paper Stories Sketch - NOV

Hello hello!! yes I am still here, still scrapbooking too but have given Blogger a bit of a break. I am hoping real soon I will update my blog with a fresh new look!!!

I haven't done many challenges lately so thought I would try the Paper Stories Sketch for November cause the sketch looked cool. I have pretty much kept to the sketch just added a few of my own touches here and there.

I have used Heidi Swapps range of papers (Vintage Chic) and the gorgeous ColorShine... and WOW does it shine. I think I brought every single colour! I have never seen a shine quite like them!
Lots of mixed media used.... I actually started this layout off and thought I am just going to do a plain jane page, but then I started sticking it down and had to pull it apart to add the extra touches.

Have a great day!
